Warwick Billy Day Underpass | PerfArt Project

Project Completion: 2018

September 30, 2020

Late in 2017, TMR approached Stoddart to provide a perforated metal option to replace existing vandalised glass panels at the busy Billy Day underpass, used by school children to cross Wood St/Cunningham highway. The panels act as an anti-throw screen at road level to protect pedestrians below.

The original glass panels had a unique stencilled art work design laminated into the glass which the local council and community wanted replicated on the new screening. Whilst we had a basic idea of what was required, the design needed to be incorporated into the panels in a way that the perforations would recreate exactly what was on site.

Stoddart's drafting and design team spent hours piecing together the pattern from photos taken on site and concept design details supplied by the client. The result is a picture perforated art work that we believe looks better than the original glass panels. Whilst only a small project at around 40m2, it is a great example of how versatile perforated metal can be.

Well done to the project/installation team who made the trip to Warwick on many occasions over the past couple of months. The job has been a great success.
