Ambrose Treacy College | Stoddart Foodservice Equipment Project

Completed 2018

July 20, 2018

Ambrose Treacy College is a Catholic school in Indooroopilly, Brisbane. The College provides a high standard Catholic education to young men from Years 4 – 12.

In 2018 the school offered, for the first time, Hospitality classes for the Senior students. The College constructed a purpose-built Hospitality classroom, in which Stoddart installed 16 CookTek Front-to-Back Double Hob Induction Cooking tops.

The school selected induction cooking tops over the open gas burners and electric radiant elements styles, for the safety of their students. This solution will not leave students exposed to naked gas flames.

Additionally, when cooking pans are removed from the induction cooker, there is little residual heat as compared to an electric element. An extra benefit with induction cooktops is once the cooking pan is removed from the cooking zone it ceases using power, so operating energy costs will be reduced by around 40%.

Throughout the design process, Stoddart noticed that there was insufficient ventilation between the bottom of the induction unit and the top of the oven below. Quick thinking enabled our design team to create and then install the additional fans required to reduce the temperature below 50C, which allow the CookTek units to continue to operate optimally.
