Microban is unique to Metro

December 9th, 2009

Despite claims by other food service shelving companies - their products do not contain Microban.

Metro remains the only product in this category with Microban's anti-microbial protection.

Beware of imitators - because only Microban provides clinically proven anti-microbial protection.

New Electrolux Test Kitchen in Melbourne

September 28th, 2009

Stoddart's Melbourne showroom now has a fully functioning Electrolux Professional demonstration kitchen.

The new show kitchen has Air-o-Steam Combi Ovens and Electrolux 900 modular equipment fully ready for cooking demonstrations. The equipment sits under a Halton Capture Jet III exhaust hood.

The Melbourne kitchen is Stoddart's second demonstration kitchen after Brisbane, with Sydney's (Rydalmere) kitchen currently under construction and due for opening in October. Perth's kitchen is in planning and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Having demo kitchens in every state is a tool all our dealers can use to host demos and have their staff and customers get enhanced training from our Electrolux chefs.

Stoddart's Melbourne office and warehouse is situated at 4/35 Taunton Drive at Cheltenham. To book for staff training or to make an appointment for your customers contact the Stoddart Melbourne office on 03 9584 5677.

Beware of misleading performance claims

September 24th, 2009

Reading product brochures for other Equipment brands can be really eye-opening. Unfortunately they may often be totally misleading.

One just passed over my desk which suggested their brand of Italian equipment had the "most efficient burners". It also included a table saying how long it took to boil a litre of water on their range compared to the "Competition". It makes no mention of how these tests were performed (the variables are potentially massive) or who the "Competiition" are.

We were amazed to see that brochure suggested the unnamed "Competition" supposedly took 6 mins and 50 secs to boil 1 litre of water on a 37mJ burner. So we at Stoddart decided to do a quick test on the 37 mJ burner of our Elco 900 range.

3 minutes and 35 seconds* later we had water at a measured temperature of 100 degrees C. Not only was this 3 minutes 15 seconds faster than the performance of the "Competition" in the brochure, it was 1 minute and 5 seconds faster than the published data for the publisher's own 900 series.

We will do a similar test on our Elco 700hp range and keep you posted. Interestingly, according to the opposition brochure the 19mJ burner of the "Competition's" equipment was allegedly 1 minute 45 seconds faster than their 37mJ burner. Seem a bit odd?

*Stoddart tests performed on standard Elco 900 using Propane gas at our Sunnybank Hills, Brisbane showroom. 1 litre of tap water used at starting temperature of 24.3 deg C. Test performed in a room temperature 300mm diameter thick based frying pan.

CodeMark Certification means Halton Products comply to BCA

September 1st, 2009

Stoddart’s Halton range of Commercial Kitchen Exhaust Hoods have been awarded the CodeMark (TM) –meaning they are independently certified to comply with relevant clauses of the Building Code of Australia (BCA).

Halton are the first commercial hoods with Code Mark approval, giving specifiers and certifiers complete confidence that Halton products are compliant to relevant regulations.

Under the CodeMarkTM certification scheme, the current complete range of Halton Capture Jet Hoods and Ventilated ceiling have been independently certified under Volume 1 F4.12 of the BCA – Kitchen local exhaust ventilation.

This section of the BCA references the relevant Australia/New Zealand Standard - AS/NZS 1668.1 and 1668.2: 1991.

All certified Halton products will now feature a decal with the CodeMarkTM logo and Stoddart’s certificate number (SAIG-09-CM20024). This will make inspectors aware of the CodeMark certification.

The accreditation process involved approvals of the Halton designs and performances to meet the requirements of the standard along with Stoddart’s manufacturing procedures. The company will continue to be regularly audited to ensure ongoing compliance to the CodeMarkTM certification scheme.

The addition of CodeMarkTM certification to the patented performance features of Halton make it a truly unique product in this industry.

More information can be found about CodeMark by visiting the website of Australian Building Codes Board.

Another Electrolux Install

August 28th, 2009

Link: http://www.crcsydenham.net/index.php?page=trade-training-centre

The Catholic Regional College Sydenham wanted cutting-edge; energy efficient equipment, so naturally they called Stoddart.

CRC Sydenham are building a brand new purpose built trade - training facility. This project included 3 Kitchens, restaurant, training and bakery kitchen.

After seeing Electrolux and other Stoddart equipment at last year's Melbourne Fine Foods, CRC Sydenham changed the specification to what they consider the best available product. After introducing the client to local contractor KBR Commercial, a new layout was produced to include Halton hoods, Electrolux 900 series cooking banks and combi ovens, Metro shelving and Koldtech refrigeration .

The restaurant will be serving quality meals in a brand new 80 seat dining room. The trade training kitchen accommodates pupils from the College's 3 other campuses to train along with VET and TAFE students .Whilst the bakery kitchen has a retail shop attached.

PNC = GOLDMINE

April 27th, 2009

Whenever you are servicing or buying parts for Electrolux equipment, the PNC code is the most important number you will need to know. Always found on the rating plate, this number will ensure you always get the right parts for the right model. Electrolux document every part that goes into every piece of equipment, when the PNC code changes the parts list changes too. Even though the older model 4 burner range for example will look like the new model, there will be subtle changes and you may get the wrong part if you simply ask for a pilot for a 4 burner range for example, if you quote the PNC code you will always get the right part. Always quote the PNC when inquiring about service or parts and you won't go wrong.
